About

A Pilates studio built around attention.

The Studio was created with a simple idea: keep the rooms intimate, teach movement exceptionally well, and give every person the attention they deserve.

Our Pilates studio features 10 Balanced Body Allegro 2 Anniversary Edition Reformers, each with an integrated Tower — giving us the freedom to move beyond a traditional reformer class and teach with more depth, variety and intention.

This is Pilates taught with knowledge, purpose and a genuine understanding of the body.

Meet Nichole

Founder + Movement Specialist

For more than 30 years, Nichole Coleman has been helping people become stronger, move with confidence, and better understand the bodies they live in.

As a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor, anatomy teacher, personal trainer, and movement specialist, Nichole’s approach goes far beyond simply teaching exercises. She blends classical Pilates, contemporary movement, functional strength, and decades of experience with one simple belief: when you understand your body, you can change the way you move through your life.

Her connection to Pilates is personal.

Nichole first discovered Pilates while navigating challenges with her own spine. Through spinal fusion, multiple surgeries, rehabilitation, and rebuilding, movement became much more than exercise — it became the way she learned to trust her body again.

That experience changed the way she teaches.

Nichole has spent her career working with bodies of all kinds: experienced athletes and Pilates practitioners, people recovering from injury or surgery, individuals navigating neurological and mobility challenges, and people who simply want to feel stronger and more capable in everyday life.

There is no expectation that you arrive already knowing what you’re doing. You come as you are.

Nichole will teach you, challenge you, make you laugh, probably ask you for one more rep when you’re convinced you’re finished — and help you discover strength you didn’t know was there.

The Studio is the culmination of more than three decades of teaching, learning, rebuilding, and believing deeply in what the human body can do.

It isn’t about being perfect. It’s about becoming capable.

Strong looks different on everyone. Let’s find yours.

Melissa Dupuis

Instructor

Melissa has been in this industry for almost twenty years, with one constant: she wants you to feel better leaving than you did coming in. Her energy is contagious and her passion for health is astronomical.

A Boston native, former professional ballet dancer and breast cancer survivor, she found Pilates while performing and used it to stay strong through a rigorous schedule, two kids and her cancer treatment. Movement healed her, and it shapes how she teaches.

She meets clients where they are in life and helps get them where they want to be — safe, happy, healthy, and having a little fun along the way.

Kevin has been personal training for over 20 years. He’s an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer with a background in Strength and Conditioning through ISSA. While he has experience working with strength athletes, Kevin specializes in adults who are new to strength training — his approach is built on progression, meeting you exactly where you’re starting.

What he loves most is seeing people get stronger and reach the goals they set out to hit — that moment when something that used to be hard finally feels easy. Every program is built around what each client actually needs, with the goal of helping you move better and stay capable, not just today but for years down the road.

Kevin is a NH native living in Hampton — a proud husband, father to two strong daughters, and dad/playmate to two dogs. He’s excited to get to know you and help you reach your goals.

Jacqui, instructor at The Studio Portsmouth, smiling in a black jacket

Jacqui

Instructor

Jacqui’s fitness journey started in a small gym in her hometown in the Lakes Region, where strength training began as something fun to build confidence, challenge herself, and stay in shape. Over time, that simple hobby grew into a true passion, and she has been coaching and teaching a variety of classes since 2021.

She loves helping people feel strong and confident, whether you’re brand new to fitness or have been moving for years. Her goal is to make every class welcoming, challenging, and fun so you leave feeling accomplished and a little stronger than you thought you were.

When she’s not at the studio, you can usually find her at the beach, hanging out with her rescue cat Lyra, watching a good trash reality show, or getting in a workout!

What a session feels like

This is where you come to move with purpose.

To get stronger. To be challenged. To refine what you know or discover something entirely new about the way your body moves.

For fifty minutes, you’ll move with intention, work with precision, and understand the why behind what you’re doing. There’s room to learn, progress, push yourself — and have some fun along the way.

Some days you’ll leave feeling taller. Some days stronger. Some days completely spent in the very best way.

Wherever you are in your practice, there’s somewhere to go from here.

How we work

Three things we hold to

Small groups, on purpose

Good coaching requires attention. We keep our groups small so your instructor can actually see you, coach you, and make adjustments while they matter.

Coaching, not choreography

You’re not here to memorize a routine or struggle to keep up. Springs, range, tempo and movement are adjusted to the person in front of us — not the other way around.

Progress over performance

There is no prize for doing the hardest version in the room. We build strength, skill and confidence with intention — meeting you where you are and giving you somewhere to go.

Where to find us

The studio sits on Mirona Road, a few minutes from downtown Portsmouth and easy to reach from Rye, Greenland, Newington, New Castle and Kittery. There is free parking directly outside, so you are not circling Market Square before a 6am class.
